Fright Night 2 title

Tag line : Welcome back...More than a sequel, it's a scream.

Fright Night 2It's been 3 years since the events of the first film, and Charley Brewster (William Ragsdale reprising his role) has spent most of that time receiving mental health care. Now believing that the events of that night were largely down to his imagination, he's enrolled at college and is busy rebuilding his life with the help of his new girlfriend Alex (Tracey Lind).

But whilst visiting his old friend, the former horror movie actor turned fearless vampire slayer Peter Vincent (Roddy McDowall again), he notices some strange neighbours moving into the apartment downstairs.

Ignoring them and pretending not to notice the large "coffin" shaped caskets being loaded into the buildings basement as he leaves, he heads back to campus with his girlfriend. But when people start going missing from his college, and he begins to have strange nightmarish visions about the new people he saw moving into the apartment block, he slowly begins to realise the events of 3 years ago were indeed as he originally remembered them.

Yes it seems there are another group of vampires in town, and as Charley and Peter are about to discover, their arrival is no coincidence. It turns out the lead vampire is a certain Regine Dandridge (Julie Carmen), who's the sister of the vampire they killed. To make matters worse, not only is Regine out for revenge she's also taken over Peter Vincent's TV show (talk about adding insult to injury).

But when Peter gets himself committed to a loony bin for trying to stake Regine live on air, and Charley is captured by her vampire followers, its up to his girlfriend Alex  to try and bust Peter out  and rescue Charley. But does Regine have other plans for them? Well you'll just have to watch and find out.

Whilst the plot may seem a little slow at first, it soon picks up pace. If you enjoyed the first film, this sequel comes highly recommended. It has the same ingredients of horror and humour that worked so well in the first and it was good to see Roddy McDowall and William Ragsdale back in action again.

Overall marks : 6/10.
